Description

Application field: Macrothane UR 9120 / Macrothane UR 5400 is used in a wide range of applications, for example: Sandwich elements, which are exposed to high stress, e.g. PVC foams, PU foam, polystyrene foam and other core materials; with wood, fibreglass (roughened), reinforced synthetics, metal, asbestos and cement and other cover layers.

For the manufacture of sandwich elements for trucks and cold storage units.

Surface preparation of materials: In general, no priming is required, but materials such as aluminium and zinc should be primed, especially if they are to be used under humid or wet conditions. Substrates must be degreased using MEK. Mechanical roughening will improve key to smooth substrates.

Mixing

Stir Macrothane UR 9120 well before mixing with hardener component Macrothane 5400. Add 1 part Macrothane UR 5400 to 4 parts Macrothane UR 9120 and mix thoroughly.

Pot Life: 17 – 23 Minutes at 25°C.

Increased temperature will reduce pot life.

Mix only sufficient Macroplast UR for use within pot life.

Open Time: 30 – 40 minutes at 25°C.

Application

Apply to one surface only be brush, serrated hand applicator, roller or two components spray applicator. Curing/Bond development: Macrothane UR 9120 / Macrothane UR 5400

  • Cures at ambient temperatures
  • Increase in temperature shortens pot life, open time and curing time
  • No shrinkage occurs during curing
  • Cures sufficiently in 11 /2 – 2 hours at 25°C to make handling and other mechanical processes possible
  • Final bond strength is achieved in approximately 8 days at ambient temperatures Cleaning: Uncured adhesive can be removed by using MEK. Cured adhesive must be removed mechanically.
